Aerofab Restorations, a Garmin-approved service centre, lead the way when it comes to rebuilding, restoring and repairing light aircraft.
G-RIMR and G-SMEG, give a nod towards the classic BBC science fiction comedy Red Dwarf with their registration.
The first aircraft in the Red Dwarf range to come through the Aerofab restoration refit process was G-SMEG, A Cessna 172s, otherwise known as a Skyhawk. The aircraft, built in 2008 is fitted with a full Garmin glass cockpit and is powered by a Lycoming IO-360-L2A engine.
Soon after the 172, refurbishment work began on G-RIMR. This 1972 Cessna 177RG, also known as a Cardinal Retractable Gear underwent the complete programme of upgrades, including a brand new suite of avionics and a new paint scheme.
Each aeroplane was carefully inspected for signs of corrosion and stress, and have been expertly reconditioned and upgraded with state-of-the-art avionics from Garmin by our CAA-certified engineers.
If you'd like to know more about the Aerofab projects, don't be a "Smeg Head" nip into Andover and pick up a Chicken Vindaloo on the way, we'll put the kettle on and tell you all about what we do.
